Students pay a visit to Canada’s hero veterans

I’m here at Sunnybrook hospital to visit the veterans and they are going to tell us their stories about the war and we’re going to visit them and make them happy today. What did you do in the army? No, I wasn’t in the army. I was in the navy. Oh, in the navy! That’s cool. It’s a mixer, Well, it was my grandfather’s. He was in World War II. He cleaned fighter jet tanks where the gas was held. When he was in the Second World War he got trapped in one of the tank and when he got out he had to go to the hospital and that gave him a disease.

So he died two years ago from blood cancer. And that’s your grandma? Ya. Boy, it’s really a nice picture. I’m excited and happy that I’m here. I’ve learned about more about my friends and more about the veterans here and about their past and what they did in the war. In Flanders Fields the poppies blow between the crosses. We’re going to be building these in class and we’re going to bring them next time I’m pretty sure. And they are old army planes that they used in World War II. It was really fun and I learned a lot from lots of the veterans.

OK, bye. Bye! .
